Approach to Financial Planning
Your financial well-being is about more than just your investments. Because of this, we begin the financial planning process by learning about your pursuits, experiences, and life, instead of jumping right into your IRA statements.
Our financial planning process has two distinct objectives:
Create tailored plans that directly align your life and values
Develop your path to financial independence
To achieve this, our planning process is designed to be an ongoing, collaborative experience that is always adapting as your life evolves. By using a modular planning method designed to address issues at their most strategic time, we help you build a financial foundation to live the life you want.
The foundation of our investment philosophy lies in understanding the tradeoffs between risk, reward, and time. The strategies that Plimsoll utilizes are founded in years and years of rigorous, Nobel-Prize-winning academic research.
Controlling the things that we can actually control is at the core of our investing strategy. Keep costs low. Be tax efficient. Stay diversified. Capture market returns.
However, the single most important, but also the hardest, aspect of a successful investment plan is managing our own behaviors. Famed Nobel Laureate Richard Feynman once said, "Imagine how much harder physics would be if electrons had feelings!” and the same applies to the emotional side of investing. Our goal is for you to understand, and believe in, your portfolio so you'll stick with it through full market cycles.
How does Ongoing Planning work?
Both of our Ongoing Planning options are collaborative and customized to your particular situation. Check out an overview of our Ongoing Financial Planning Process here.
